Suffolk Rural (formally Otley College)

Animal Nursing Assistants (Level 2 Certificate)

Course Overview

This course is based at our Suffolk Rural (Otley) campus.

This is a one academic year programme, starting in September. Attendance to all aspects of the study programme is required, typically 3-4 days per week on campus plus an additional day in work placement.

To achieve the Level 2 Certificate for Animal Nursing Assistants you will be required to complete an external assessment linked to Companion Animal Anatomy and Physiology. You will also be assessed using a range of practical demonstrations and written assignments which assist you to compile a portfolio of evidence.

You must also complete 150 hours of work experience alongside attendance at college to achieve this qualification. This must be within a veterinary setting.

All students who have not achieved a grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

On achievement of this programme you could progress to the Advanced Technical Diploma in Animal Management or may, subject to entry requirements, undertake the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.

Course Overview

This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

This fast-paced, dynamic, and bespoke programme of study offers you the opportunity to explore, experience, and develop your Art & Design potential through creative activities. Incorporated into all programmes of study are Drawing and Visual Studies supported by a Contextual Studies programme, and a wide range of practical specialist workshops, taught by specialist practitioners, is offered to meet the requirements of each individual student. All of these aspects are continuously assessed throughout the course and supported by a structured and enriching Tutorial and PSE programme that supports building of employability skills through seminars and work experience activities.

This study programme provides you with the skills to either seek employment or progress to Higher Education; GCSE qualifications are available alongside the main programme where required. An ideal applicant is an energetic, committed, enthusiastic, and creative individual with aspirations of a career in the creative industries. The course is graded Pass, Merit, and Distinction.

This study programme has fantastic progression rates to internationally-recognised universities that excel in producing specialists in the Art and Design field. For those that do not wish to progress to university, there are opportunities to engage and gain experience with employers in the related industries. In order to support your progression, you will receive helpful career advice and information about the industry from your specialist tutors and guest speakers. There will also be opportunities to visit and explore museums and art galleries on trips to places such as London and Cambridge as well as an international trip to New York.
