Year 6 Transition 2023
Thank you for choosing Stowmarket High School as your child’s secondary school. Deciding on who to entrust with their schooling for at the next five years is a huge decision and we are delighted that you have chosen to send your child to our school.
Mrs Goodman will be visiting your child in their primary school during the summer term. She will meet your child and speak to their class teacher to find out about their academic attainment. Mrs Orton our SENCO and our SEND Advocates will also be visiting schools and meeting students and parents.
Key dates for students
Uniform Sale: Thursday 13th July 2023 3.30 pm – 5.30 pm
Transition Days: Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th July 2023
We look forward to welcoming your child to our transition days. Students should arrive in their primary school uniform and will require a pen and pencil and a water bottle.
Monday 3rd of July: This day will be spent in tutor groups, students will become familiar with the layout of the school, their teachers, and their new tutor group. Students will be given a school dinner; choices will be emailed out.
Tuesday 4th of July: Students will spend the day in their tutor groups and will sample a variety of lessons. Some students will require a PE kit, they will be told about this on the Monday. They will also find out about our summer holiday reading challenge and attend a music concert performed by older students.
First Days of Term: Tuesday 5th of September 2023
Key Dates for Parents:
Tuesday 5th July, New Parents evening and meet the tutor – Doors open at 5.45pm. This event is for parents only.
